In a world where sleep is sacred and alarms are the enemy, Steve finds himself face to face with Hypnos, the Goddess of sleep. What happens when the snooze button becomes a curse?
The Age Before Technology
Before technology ruled the world, mornings were peaceful. The sun would rise slow, the birds would sing softly, and people actually woke up rested. The goddess of sleep, Hypnos, guarded the border between the dream land and sunrise. She wrapped mortals in gentle soft silence and let them wake in their own time, peacefully.

Then came Steve, the god of screens, updates, and endless notifications. He was jealous of Hypnos’s power.
The Rise of Steve
While he ruled the night through glowing rectangles and doom scrolling, she still owned the morning. Mortals obeyed their natural rhythm to sleep and that infuriated Steve

The Creation of the Apple Alarm
So one day, Steve created his cruelest invention of all time, the apple alarm. He hid it inside a sleek glass rectangle and whispered, “Set me in the morning, in 5 minute intervals, and you’ll never be late again.”
Mortals, of course, ever trusting, per usual, believed him. They lined their side tables with iPhones and drifted off under Hypnos gentle watch, not knowing the trap that was waiting for them at sunrise.

The Curse of the Radar
The next morning, the world screamed. The sound was sharp, metallic, and unnaturally annoying! A piercing sound known as Radar.
Birds flew from the trees, mortals woke in panic, clutching their chests, hearts pounding as if chased by demons. The peace of the morning was shattered. Hypnos, horrified, begged Steve to undo his awful radar curse.

the eternal battle
Hypnos tried to fight back. She put comfort into pillows and warmth into blankets while whispering “Five more minutes” into the ears of the exhausted mortals. For a moment, it worked, humans hit snooze, drifting back into her arms, but Steve was clever. He built his curse to repeat every few minutes, ensuring mortals would live in a cycle of panic and regret.

The legacy of the alarm
To this day, Hypnos still tries to protect the mortals by granting deep sleep that makes them ignore every alarm. Other times she gifts the rare luxury of waking before the sound, but most mornings, the curse wins. The air fills with the scream of Radar, and another mortal wakes with a jolt, cursing their phone, cursing the morning, cursing the god who started it all.
